Here, in the UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, the environment is truly, gloriously, authentically wild, and opportunities for adventure, education and natural enrichment, are as abundant as the temperate rainforest.

Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is located at the very centre of the biosphere, at the northeast end of an 11-kilometre-long deepwater fjord in Bedwell Sound, at the mouth of the Bedwell River.  Your 600-acre adventure playground.

Six categories of adventure - equestrian, marine-based, land-based, heli-ventures, restorative and fishing - delivered by qualified wilderness guides and operators, using state-of-the-art equipment and technology on-board certified vessels, ensure extraordinary, authentic adventure in regulated, low-risk environments.

All three, four and seven-night packages include dozens of esquestrian, fresh water, salt water, and restorative activities for guests of all ages, experience levels, and inclinations.  All adventures, activities, gear, equipment and enthusiasm are resort owned and operated, so guests can get where they want, when they want - weather permitting.

Choose from a menu of half-day and full-day activities and/or combine these with camp-based activities, for a truly custom program of adventure that unfolds at the pace and excitement level of your choosing.  And don’t forget spa and doing nothing at all. Restoring your zen, and topping-up your nature deficit are as important as getting up close (enough) and personal with black bear munching crab on the foreshore.

Clayoquot Sound contains some of the world’s last remaining untouched ancient temperate rainforests. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization designated Clayoquot Sound, a protected Biosphere Reserve in 2000.    A diverse range of ecosystems exist within the biosphere reserve boundaries, including temperate coastal rainforest, ocean and rocky coastal shores.

While we make every effort to ensure your safety and educate you on the benefits and risks of wilderness adventure, all guests are required to sign a standard waiver upon arrival.  Resort guides and vessels carry first aid and survival kits, plus VHF radios on all outings. Resort activities are weather-dependent - please check availability with your travel agent or resort reservations at time of booking, and expect some flexibility with activity planning during your stay.
